Barbara Hutton

Barbara Hutton specialises in curriculum and materials development, research, curriculum conceptualisation, presenting workshops and training of ABET Practitioners.

She is currently busy with her Masters in Distance Education, through the University of London.

Amongst the materials she has authored and co-authored are:

Grade R to Grade 8 readers, Grade R Training Workshop materials for WCED Managers, Fundani 1, 2 and 3 (ABET Levels 1, 2 and 3 First Language,  Communications course in Xhosa, Afrikaans, Sesotho, Sepedi and Zulu. Includes learner and teacher material; and a set of readers) and Nelson Mandela – a Born Leader,

Of her editing work include: Volume editor of From Social Silence to Social Studies: Gender, same-sex sexuality and HIV/AIDS in South Africa, Managing editor and editor of ABE in South Africa, Oxford University Press, Co-editor of Children Count – Abantwana.

The organisations she has worked with and for include The SACHED Trust, Legal Resources Centre, Prolit, Soul City, Western Cape Education Department, Robben Island Museum, INTEC and  Eduwrite.

Barbara is a stalwart believer in lifelong learning and encourages this in all spheres of her working and personal life.
