Michael McKune has been working in the banking and financial sectors for a number of years, his experiences ranging from local banking to foreign exchange with Citibank of New York, based in Cape Town. His later years experience included managing the financial rand mechanism for the Western Cape, at Nedbank.
He served as Nedbank’s representative on the board for the Institute of Banking. The prime responsibilities of this Institute were the education of young bankers. A natural progression of this position was the opening up of a full local and international currency trading and money market room, in Cape Town responsible for all the banks dealings from Namibia through to the Western Cape and Eastern Cape. He also worked at Caltex as an Oil Operator for a number of years. He joined a debt administration company for a short period, working within the legal system to protect consumers.
Upon retiring from the banking sector, he took up a new challenge by completing the Teaching English as a Foreign Language course through Eurocentres as well as the CELTA course backed by Aston University in England. He has been teaching and tutoring English and Business Communication for the past six years, to local and international students.
