12 April 09:00–13:00 Focus your writing:  Related theories of communication to the writing you need as a teacher.  Do an audit of who you need to write to and why.  Identify your personal strengths and weaknesses when it comes to writing in English.  Classroom

10 May09:00–13:00Use the writing process:  Go through a process to produce written work that is professional and effective.  Classroom

17 May09:00–13:00Write effectively:  Develop techniques that range from selecting the perfect words; using these to build clear sentences and paragraphs to express precisely what you wish to communicate.  You will learn how to structure your documents and use headings effectively.  Classroom communication:  Increasing your learner’s word power.

24 May09:00–13:00Clear correspondence:  Explore the acceptable formats and styles for a range of correspondence used in the school environment:  reports, agendas and minutes of meetings, internal memos, letters, faxes and emails.  Classroom communication:  Inspiring learners to use different styles of writing in a variety of formats.

31 May09:00–13:00Edit and proofread to perfection:  Develop skills to edit and proofread to produce high-quality documents that enhance the credibility of the writer.  Classroom communication:  Creating a culture of editing and proofreading in the classroom.

7 June09:00–13:00Writing for yourself, creativity and flair:  Use creative writing to enhance your personal and professional growth and as a way to better organise and manage your life.  Classroom communication:  Making the most of creative writing opportunities across the curriculum.

No-show:  No refund.  Cancellations: R20 admin fee non-refundable.  Other amounts will be refunded only if notice of cancellation is faxed to 021 689 2998 before noon on the 2nd last working day before the start of the course, or if the participant is absent from school on the first day owing to sudden illness or bereavement.  No pro rata refunds once course is underway.
